Fishing waters rich in variety

Go on a "fishing safari"!

Our service for all anglers:

  • Day permits/fishing licenses available at the "Zur Gams".
  • Equipment is available for our guests to borrow.
  • We are happy to prepare your catch and serve it for dinner, or we will vacuum-pack or refrigerate it for you to enjoy later at home.
  • You will also be provided with information about fishing regulations.

Fishing Ponds next to the Inn

Located right next to our inn are several fishing ponds, where aspiring anglers can try their hand at the sport for the first time. This is also where we hold our fishing courses for beginners.

Fishing Area on the Donnersbach

The fishing area is 8.8 km in length and flows right past Gasthof Pension Appartements "Zur Gams". It is purely a fly-fishing area, only barbless hooks are permitted.

Fishing Area on the River Enns

The Enns features 3 different sections with a variety of species and glorious riverscapes.
The upper courses of the river near Assach-Pruggern are characterized by beautiful gravel shallows and slow-flowing stretches, whereas the areas from Trautenfels to Stainach and from Liezen to Frauenberg are dominated by more rapidly flowing waters.

Fish Species: brook trout, rainbow trout, grayling, char, pike, bullhead, isolated huchen and burbot

Fishing at the Zeiringerteich

The Zeiringerteich is a pond that lies south of Stainach, about 20 km from our inn. It covers an area of around 7 ha and has an average depth of 2.5 m.
Here, carp have been caught weighing as much as 18 kg.

Fish species: carp, pikeperch, pike, Wels- and Amur catfish.

Fishing on the Palten

This ca. 6 km-long salmonid-rich stretch of river extends from the confluence of the Strechenbach, downstream until it discharges into the River Enns.

Fish Species:
brook trout, rainbow trout, grayling, char, minnow, bullhead, isolated pike, burbot and brook lamprey.

Fishing on the Gamperlacke

The Gamperlacke, a cut-off of the River Enns, lies alongside the main road between Liezen and Selzthal, also one of the last virgin riparian forests in Ennstal. It is a habitat for predatory as well as prey fish.

Fish species: carp, pikeperch, pike, perch, Amur, silver carp, tench, roach, rudd and crucian carp
