Located right next to our inn are several fishing ponds, where aspiring anglers can try their hand at the sport for the first time. This is also where we hold our fishing courses for beginners.
Rainbow trout and Arctic char
The fishing area is 8.8 km in length and flows right past Gasthof Pension Appartements "Zur Gams". It is purely a fly-fishing area, only barbless hooks are permitted.
Species: brook trout and char
The Enns features 3 different sections with a variety of species and glorious riverscapes.
The upper courses of the river near Assach-Pruggern are characterized by beautiful gravel shallows and slow-flowing stretches, whereas the areas from Trautenfels to Stainach and from Liezen to Frauenberg are dominated by more rapidly flowing waters.
Fish Species: brook trout, rainbow trout, grayling, char, pike, bullhead, isolated huchen and burbot
The Zeiringerteich is a pond that lies south of Stainach, about 20 km from our inn. It covers an area of around 7 ha and has an average depth of 2.5 m.
Here, carp have been caught weighing as much as 18 kg.
Fish species: carp, pikeperch, pike, Wels- and Amur catfish.
This ca. 6 km-long salmonid-rich stretch of river extends from the confluence of the Strechenbach, downstream until it discharges into the River Enns.

The Gamperlacke, a cut-off of the River Enns, lies alongside the main road between Liezen and Selzthal, also one of the last virgin riparian forests in Ennstal. It is a habitat for predatory as well as prey fish.
